After Sandy. Long Island, NY

| The calm after the storm. It may not be noticeable to anyone else, but I had never seen the water of my hometown's beach this color before. It was an almost tropical icy blue and, due to its strangeness, very unsettling. |

| Once again, I think some history of the area is needed to understand the mood of this photo, but in the days following Sandy there was an ominous quiet that pervaded my otherwise upbeat neighborhood. Then again, anyone who has gone through a hurricane knows what I mean. |
